The Museum of British Pewter
Harvard House is located at Stratford-upon-Avon which is under
the direction of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
The house is of special interest to Americans because of its
association with the family of John Harvard, who later founded
Harvard University. Built in 1596, its half-timbered frontage is the
most elaborately carved in the town, and the interior contains many
fine architectural features
The rooms at Harvard House make an appropriate setting for the
magnificant display of period pewter - in the eighteenth century
pewter was in fact sold here when the building was used by
ironmongers - and the creation of the pewter museum will do much to
ensure the house's long-term preservation. For further information

The Neish Collection
Put together
over many years by Alex Neish, this collection is the finest and
most diverse of its kind, comprising well over fourteen hundred
pieces, ranging from Roman times to the nineteenth century. Some of
the pieces are exceptionally rare, such as a Roman charger, medieval
pilgrims' badges and a bowl embossed with the arms of King James VI
and I.
