Pewter Live 2019 is now accepting entries. 

 You are warmly invited to submit entries to the Pewter Live Design Competition by the closing date of 1 February 2019.

Pewter Live’s mission is to encourage innovation in design in order to exploit pewter to its fullest potential and stretch the boundaries of this marvellous material. The aim is to bring pewter alive; to demonstrate an understanding of its inherent qualities, its appeal and relevance to contemporary consumers of all ages and tastes.

What winning means: The prize

PEWTER LIVE INFORMATION
HOW TO ENTER PEWTER LIVE 2019
The First Prize will be the Pewterers’ Award and £500 (subject to the judges’ decision).
The prize will be presented on 23 May 2019 at a prestigious Pewter Live reception attended by top designers, retail buyers and City of London dignitaries. Best in show will receive an additional £700.

The judges will be representatives of the media, retailers, makers and designers.

Theme for 2019:  PEACE

The interpretation of this and the concept(s) of peace are entirely down to your inspiration and creativity.

Materials

We encourage mixed materials and media, although the item must be at least 50% pewter. The judges are looking for high quality pieces whether they are a one off designer item or something that could be mass-produced. 

Who can enter?

Pewter Live entries are welcomed from any designer, manufacturer or student of three-dimensional objects based in the United Kingdom or Europe. ​​

Publicity for your designs:

In addition to the visitors to the three day exhibition thousands will see your entries online and via the widely circulated Pewter Live catalogue.​​ your entries displayed in Pewterers’ Hall from 21 – 23 May 2019 (open to public 10.00-17.00 on 23 May) and successful entrants are invited to attend at 11.45 on 23 May for the Prizegiving Ceremony.

Working drawings and realistic costings needs to accompany the Entry form by 1 February 2019. 
The item can be any size, though for large scale pieces please liaise with the Company regarding transport/display.

Late February 2019 – Shortlisted entrants notified
15 April 2019– 
High resolution images and information (50 word description) to be sent by email for use in catalogue and advance publicity. Entries received after this date will not be included in the catalogue.
7 May 2019– Final designs to be delivered to Pewterers’ Hall
23 May 2019 – Winners announced and prizes presented.

STUDENT ENTRANTS

Eligibility: The Student Competition will be open to any undergraduate studying at a British University or College holding a Student’s Union Card. Entry is free of charge
​​Key dates and deadlines:
Stage One –  drawings are submitted to your tutor for consideration (and the representative if they are available). We would advise doing this in February to allow time to make and photograph the pieces. If you are entering as an independent student and would like advice please do contact us and we can give advice on what the judges are looking for.
Stage Two:  – those selected are made up in pewter. Pewter can be supplied at cost from the suppliers/ manufacturers listed below.
15 April 2019–  High resolution images and entry form (including 50 word description) to be sent by email for use in catalogue and advance publicity. Entries received after this date will not be included in the catalogue.

STUDENT Categories and Design Briefs: There are three possible categories to enter below but please note that although you can enter more than one item you cannot enter the same piece in multiple categories:
Option 1.
Open Competition Brief

Option 2.  
Decorative Arts Interior,
Exterior and Furniture
Students are asked to design a pewter item for the gift market or other commercial or residential use. The design could either be functional, experimental or merely decorative. 
Option 3. 
 Jewellery to the Total Look

Design a single piece, or a range, of jewellery / fashion accessories. We encourage mixed media, although the item must be at least 50% pewter.

  • Where can I get an entry form?

Go to Pewter Live 2019 for more information or download a form (links left).

  • Who is eligible to enter?

OPEN: The competition will be open to any UK or European designer or pewter maker. Please note there is an entry charge of £25 to cover administrative costs (see brief for more details).

STUDENT: The Competition will be open to any student studying at a British University or College holding a Student’s Union Card. .

  • Will I be able to take my entry home with me?

The entry will remain yours to keep. However the WCOP may wish to will reserve the right to keep and publish photographs of it. Students are asked to take their designs away with them after Prize Giving unless specifically asked otherwise.

  • Design Protection

All entrants are advised to take out their own design protection.The catalogue for 2019 will have details on design protection.
